The Officers

Officers are elected by the team to serve as leaders and representatives for the full academic year. Together, they oversee the team’s operations and ensure each component functions cohesively toward shared success.

Captain

Jamison Wettergren

Jamison Wettergren is a fourth-year student from Lakewood, CO and is pursuing a Master of Safety Science. This is his fourth year as a Golden Eagle; he participates in SCAN, CRM, Pre-flight, Message Drop, NAV, and On/Off Landings. Jamison is a CFI/II

and ASEL commercial pilot with

an instrument rating. He is currently working as an instructor at Embry-Riddle; after graduating, he plans on going to the airlines or other private careers. In his free time, Jamison enjoys fly fishing, helping others, and going on adventures with friends and family.

Jonathan Chen

Jonathan Chen is a third-year student from San Jose, CA and is pursuing

a degree in Aeronautical Science

with a minor in Aviation Business Administration. This is his third year as a Golden Eagle; he participates in SCAN, CA, SIM, IFR, On/Off Landings, NAV, and Message Drop. Jonathan is an ASEL commercial pilot with an instrument rating. After graduating, he plans on flying professionally at an airline or working as an aircraft salesman. In his free time, Jonathan enjoys photography and cooking. Fun fact: Jonathan speaks 3.5 languages!

Chief Pilot

Myles Kopfle-Maurer

Myles Kopfle-Maurer is a fourth-year student from Denver, CO, pursuing a degree in Aeronautical Science with a minor in Air Traffic Control. This is his fourth year as a Golden Eagle, participating in ACID, CRM, Pre-flight, On/Off Landings, and NAV. Myles is an ASEL commercial pilot with an instrument rating and is currently working towards his CFI. After graduating, he plans on flying for a cargo operation or a corporate flight department. In his free time, Myles enjoys hanging out with friends, working on cars, and of course, flying!

Kellan Hoel

Kellan Hoel is a fourth-year student from Seattle, WA, pursing a degree in Aeronautical Science with a minor in Applied Meteorology. This is his fourth year as a Golden Eagle; his favorite team event is Message Drop! Kellan is an ASEL and AMEL commercial pilot with an instrument rating. After graduating, he plans on working as a cargo pilot. In his free time, Kellan enjoys running, hiking, and swimming. Fun fact: Over the course of NIFA Nationals 2026, Kellan ate 52 bananas!

Safety

Steven Michael Diasnes

Steven Michael Diasnes is a fourth-year student from Las Vegas, NV, pursuing

a degree in Aeronautical Science with

a minor in Air Traffic Control. This is

his third year as a Golden Eagle, participating in CA, SIM, On/Off Landings, NAV, and Message Drop. Steven is an ASEL commercial pilot with an instrument rating; he also holds a UAS license. After graduating, he plans on instructing at Embry-Riddle before going to the airlines. In his free time, Steven enjoys bowling, basketball, playing video games, and working out.

Public Relations

Morgan Hinz

Morgan Hinz, a second-year student from Portland, OR, is pursuing a degree in Aeronautical Science. This is his second year as a Golden Eagle and he participates in CA. Morgan is currently working on his private pilot certificate. While in school, he looks forward to building hours with the team; after graduation, he plans on instructing at Embry-Riddle before going to the airlines. In his free time, he enjoys solving Rubik’s cubes, playing video games, taking photos, exploring the outdoors with friends and family, and traveling to new places.

Brandon Zhang

Brandon Zhang is a second-year student from San Jose, CA and is pursuing a degree in Aeronautical Science. This is his second year as a Golden Eagle and he participates in ACID. Brandon is currently working toward his private pilot certificate. He plans on building hours with the team and working as a CFI before heading to the airlines. In his free time, he enjoys playing video games, hiking, hanging out with friends, studying ACID, and, of course, flying. Fun fact: Brandon plays the cello!
